What Good News Center is About and Where We Are Going: Part 5 – The No Spin-Zone: People have a great need to be in control in order to feel safe. Giving God control (trusting Him) makes us safe-- it puts us in the no-spin zone or the place of immunity, which is the secret place mentioned in Psalm 91. This place is one of peace and rest. It is a place of His unconditional love and safety. As we relinquish control, we are being transitioned from our reality to His reality. We often try to maintain control by escaping reality. When we worship God, giving worth-ship to Him in everything we do, we allow Him to alter our reality. Every time we connect with the love of God, we get released from fear. God has placed in each one of us the desire to feel the sufficiency of His safety, to discover the habitation of God where no barrier or shadow exists between our weakness and His sufficiency. We aren’t limited to ourselves! To dwell and abide in God’s love is not only to live in a reality that He wants the very best for us, but it is also living in ceaseless union with the passion He has for our lives. For fresh insight into God’s heart for us regarding this secret place, read Psalm 91 in the Message Bible.
What Good News Center is About and Where We Are Going: Part 6 – The No Spin-Zone: God has already made provision for us to live in grace, not in stress (which is rooted in fear). Rest is ceasing to earn something by our works. People all around us are worried about provision, protection and peace. Hard times will come (2 Tim. 3:1-5), but we don’t need to fear, because God always makes provision for us in the midst of it. We are kept by the power of the gospel, which is His grace. 2 Sam 22:2-3 says that the Lord is our Rock. We needn’t worry whether we have enough of our own faith. We live from His faith, by-
1. Choosing to believe
2. Continuing to live, not shrinking back in fear
3. Speaking His truth
We do not have to live in or from any form of limitation. We connect with the One who has abundant provision, protection and peace living from confidence in God as our source. In choosing to trust that He is sufficient for us, we allow God to demolish the power of fear to control us. Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 tell us that, as believers, we are not left to a place of devastation, but we are promised restoration!
